Summertime in Vista, California

It's been a pleasant 80 degrees most of the time here now... sometimes 90 & 95, but it always feels wonderful with the ocean breeze, and no humidity. We work till about 2 then cool off in the backyard in the pool or under an umbrella with a drink -- or both! Goldie jumps in whenever we do. It's a good year to live in Vista as Carlsbad and the coast are cooler and more overcast than usual this summer.

We continue to have lots of local visitors: neighbors, cruise friends, etc. Lupe and Tim and Maria came over for a Saturday afternoon. We all actually stayed in the pool awhile as it was so nice and warm. Lupe brought me another plumeria plant, this time with flowers already. From http://www.plumaria.info: Plumerias (Frangipani) also known as the Lei flower, is native to warm tropical areas of the Pacific, especially Hawaii. This beautiful flower was named after Charles Plumier, 17C French botanist. Plumeria belongs in the plant family Apocynaceae.

Tim, above, watches to make sure Rick doesn't burn those steaks!

Rick has also been busy inside: he painted his office. It looks a lot better already, and the furniture is not even back in the room. Basically it is a tan color, but more brown, less "pinky" like the rest of the house. The glossy finish is gone too! Yippee!

I'm heading to Michigan and Illinois later this week for a quick visit and then driving to a wedding in Chicago. If I don't make it to see you, please forgive me. I'll catch you next time!
