It's been an interesting last few weeks out here! One good event is that our condo sale has gone PENDING! Once that closes we will REALLY celebrate. Already we have a lot more time since we completed the remodeling, the exterior paint is complete, and Open Houses are over! We did some furniture re-arranging there (with what we left) and it looks very cute! And it looks much bigger without all our large furniture crammed in! Julian got pretty sick two weeks ago and had to go to Urgent Care: he had walking pneumonia! He missed over a week of school, and, the first 3 weeks of the bike racing season which he had been training for every night with his teammates. The entire season might be lost to him, but at least NOT the entire semester. It was tough on us being so far away and not knowing what was wrong or how he was doing.
I thought about flying him out here last week since it was MSU Spring Break and he was still recovering, but the last minute airfares were more than double, almost triple, the normal (over $650). We thought it might be best for him to rest at school. Well, then he gets a phone call from a San Diego company who did a second phone interview, AND offered to fly him here for an in-person meeting! WOO HOO!! Since it was Spring Break, he asked to fly out a couple of days early, and we got a visit, he rested, and he had a great "business trip"! He'll know within a couple of weeks if he gets the summer internship! 3/13/07 update: Julian got one of the first calls! And he is being offered the job at Intuit in San Diego!!! It looks like a great company for him to work at. They produce Turbo Tax, Quicken, and other programs you may be familiar with.
Next week Saturday, March 25th,is the MSU Bike Race. Jules won't be racing, but he'll be there setting it up. (It's near MSU, not Pontiac.) Team website is: http://www.msucycling.org/ Julian is webmaster too.

Paul & Mary Schunder sent us some pictures of all the snow they have received on the west coast of Michigian where they retired. Paul worked with Rick at FORD. We couldn't help but "counter" with photos of the west coast of California!
It was 92 degrees here yesterday and should be again today. As you may have seen on the news, it becomes quite a fire hazard! And this is our "rainy" season! We have only had 3 inches of the wet stuff since July 1st. It's probably waiting for Michigan visitors to come out!
Another Ford retiree, Tom Newton, and his wife Sandy, stopped in for a visit this week! They have a son who lives in Carlsbad, just a few miles from our condo! It was nice to see them. There is a grandbaby on the way, so we expect to see them again soon!
We are looking forward to hosting Art & Kathy Luz in a couple of weeks...ah, in 10 days! And my niece Carrie Maiuri and her family for a few days Easter Week. It would be great if it were this hot then so her kids could use the pool! Jeff Gilberg will also be here Easter Weekend, and my Dad may come out right after that!

And now, about the dam gophers! ARGGGGG!!! It's one of the not-so-pleasant things out here!
They are eating everything! Digging holes everywhere! We have tried gassing them (don't think they were in the tunnels at the time). We tried poison pellets (they just kicked them out of the holes!), and now, Rick bought some traps! With an acre of land this might be best... rather than just scaring them to some other part of our lawn and gardens. HA.. NOT that they are scared yet....
Years ago when Julian was in high school, we bought the movie "Caddy Shack" 'cause he was about to become a caddy at Oakland Hills. We need to watch it again to get some tips from Bill Murray!!!
