OK, so it's not ALWAYS 74 degrees & sunny

Well, we have experienced some highs and lows this week...

The Chargers football for one! LT just couldn't do it all.

And our weather, well, it was 85 degrees for a couple of days early in the week. Rick and I were hurrying to plant some flowers and our new citrus trees because there was a CHANCE of rain later in the week. It got windy, but only a few drops of rain fell. It's still strange to be excited about rain!

Now this weekend it's FREEZING! Literally! We had to cover our baby trees, but the frost didn't hit here. Frost and SNOW did cover areas that haven't been this cold since 1949!! (I think it's because Jennifer was considering coming here!)

Update 1/16: Frost DID hit Southern California.... indications are that 75% of the orange crop is damaged, and ALL of the avocado crop! My baby trees have been getting covered now for 5 nights! Me too! brrrrr I actually wore my winter coat AND gloves taking Goldie out in the mornings! But, it's about 60 during the day and sunny. Next week we are supposed to back in the mid 70's.
PS: due to the poor cell phone reception up here in the foothills, we had to get a land line. How old fashioned! If you need it, ask. I won't publish it online, that's for sure!

Some new pics

Julian rode his bike several hundred miles while here in San Diego for 3 weeks. So, he deserved to try out our whirlpool/hot tub. By the looks of his face I don't think we got it warm enough before he went in! (If you click on any photo you can get a larger view).

Later that night, New Year's Eve, Rick and I got in. For YOUR benefit there are no photos of that event! It was though, a beautiful clear night and we felt like we were at a private resort.

Julian is back at MSU now; classes started today.

We made the first house payment, so I guess we'll be able to stay here through February!
